Day 3 of KCT

Amanda Bressler on November 8, 2017

What a blessing these last 3 days have been! As many of you know, I am quite the chatterbox and love to share what God has been doing in my life. I was struggling with how to prepare a ministry connection piece to share with ministry partners. This training has been so helpful already. I even shared a story with my class in under 2 minutes and did not miss the major details!!! That is definitely a record for me! Thanks for all your continued prayers! And if you would like to hear my presentation when the class is over,...

Exciting News!!!

Amanda Bressler on November 23, 2014

Hello from limbo! Many of you know that I have been unsure of a date for heading to Togo. Well, in God's perfect timing, I am leaving in May of 2015!!!! Plane tickets have not been purchased as of yet, but the families of the children I will be teaching met this past week and said that the best timing for them would be in May! There is another teacher, Megan, that will be heading back to the states for the summer, so I will be arriving shortly before she leaves. All 3 teachers will have some time together and...

God-things are happening!!!

Amanda Bressler on October 6, 2014

Good morning to everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! I just wanted to give you an update on how God has been working over the last few weeks! As you know, a couple weeks ago, I shared with some ladies at my church at an international dinner! We had such a great time, and there was soooo much food! Each table was decorated with items from other countries and I had the chance to meet some really incredible ladies! After sharing God’s calling on my life, several ladies came and said that they wanted to partner with me in...

Power in Prayer

Amanda Bressler on September 13, 2014

I know that each and every one of you has been praying for me, and I appreciate that so much! Please pray especially for me tomorrow as I share at my first church. Pray that hearts will be open to the need of Mango, Togo, and that God will be glorified in everything that is said and done tomorrow! So grateful for this opportunity, but a little nervous as well! Glad that I serve God who is so much bigger than my worry and nervousness!  Thanks again for the prayers!  Amanda

In Response to the Ebola Virus

Amanda Bressler on September 8, 2014

Many people have asked me about the ebola virus: whether it has spread to Togo or if it will impede my plans of going. I wanted to assure you that my plans are still to go (as soon as all my support is raised) and that ABWE is aware of the situation. Here is their reponse to the outbreak. Please pray for all those that are involved in making those decisions for missionaries around the world!  Ebola Outbreak in West Africa ABWE News Update Over the last six months, ABWE’s health director and administrators have been vigilantly monitoring the Ebola...

Something to think about....

Amanda Bressler on June 13, 2014

Shared to me by one of the missionaries I will be serving with in Togo:   My favorite story to tell lately in town. The reactions are priceless every time. Once there was a man who was looking for a wife. He looked everywhere and didn't find one, so then he decided to look at prison. At the prison he found a woman who was really skinny, hadn't had the means to bathe in a long time, had mosquito bites all over her and unbraided, nappy hair, torn, worn-out clothes, and a bad smell. He looked at her with eyes of...

Working in the Waiting

Amanda Bressler on April 29, 2014 Comments (51)

I am realizing more and more what it means to wait on the Lord. There are times when I am not sure what He is doing or what His timing is, but I know that He has a plan and has the best timing!  I am realizing more and more, though, that waiting does not mean "do nothing!"  God wants me to continue to be faithful and working for Him in the waiting! This is SOOO hard sometimes, but knowing that He has it all figured out makes it so much easier to wait. I have been working at Lifeway...

Single and Satisfied...A Process

Amanda Bressler on March 19, 2014 Comments (1127)

Ever since I felt the Lord’s calling on me to be a missionary teacher, there has been one question that is often asked…  What if God is calling you to life of singleness?  I have often struggled with this question.  Being 29 years old and never having dated, I often wonder if that is God’s calling on my life, and to be honest, it has scared me in the past.  There have been times in my life where I was so focused on being lonely that I forgot to look at what God had to say about it.  I’ve begun...

New Beginnings

Amanda Bressler on March 18, 2014 Comments (1305)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 I am so thankful that I serve God who is making me new each day, each moment of my life. I have gone through so many ups and downs in my life, yet He is FAITHFUL!!!  I am new creation who constantly needs to be reminded that the old has passed....old habits, old choices, old sins, old everything....and that the new is here!!!  But in order to get the new, I need to shed the old, and that...

Been a While...

Amanda Bressler on October 4, 2011 Comments (636)

This is my first official missions update! I cannot believe I have been here for a month and a half! Time flies by so quickly here, or so it seems! I am still so amazed that the Lord has brought me here and wake up every morning and say to myself, "I am in Africa!" I have been so blessed by my ministry here already and am excited to see how God is going to use me in this next year! I guess I will give you a rundown of Togo life here and hopefully that will give you an...

School is Here!!!

Amanda Bressler on August 23, 2011

Tomorrow is the kids' first day of school and they are soooo excited! When I left after dinner, they were packing their backpacks! School will be at my house tomorrow and maybe even Thursday because they are replacing a window in my classroom. Kind of annoying, but I am glad it is getting done now!!! We shall see how tomorrow goes! Began learning French today! James has a neat little French tutor program on his DS and he has given me permission to use it as often as I like! I learned my numbers to 10, colors, days of the week,...

A Day of Firsts

Amanda Bressler on August 22, 2011

Yesterday was incredible!!! The Lord really stretched in me in experiencing things that I never thought I would do and let me understand the love that we should have as believers. I woke at 6am so we could leave at 7. Kind of reminded me of Sunday mornings in the states! We drove about 45 minutes to Amoussokope Bible Church. Jim preached there in French while a man named Kuame interpreted in Ewe. My first service where I had no idea what was being preached! I would look up the passages as he said them, and every once in a while Christal would lean over...

Eggs and Curtains

Amanda Bressler on August 19, 2011

I have never thought of myself as being very housewife-ish (is that even a word?) and today definitely proved it!!! I am not a cook or a seamstress!!! Had fun trying out my little stove once Boaz showed me how to turn on the gas! Just to remind you, he is 7! Then came the task of lighting the burner which actually was not bad. The eggs however were another story! So, the Lord has blessed me with a freezer. To tell you a little of that story...A wonderful woman named Patience who is one of the pastor's wives was...

Beginning of the journey...

Amanda Bressler on August 18, 2011

Here I am, in Togo! It has been a crazy few weeks, but God has been truly amazing through all of it! This will have to be a short post as it is almost 11 at night, but I will do my best (as internet allows) to get you caught up on what is happening here and what God is teaching me! Thank you so much for all your prayers financial support! God has really been encouraging me through both of these lately.
